Corning MetroCore optical fiber is a special fiber with a dispersion characteristic (delay vs. wavelength) that is the negative of the chirp introduced by directly modulated lasers. For the modest distance ranges and cost sensitivity of the metro application, this allows considerable savings on lasers and modulators.
The MetroCore fiber provides a long-term solution for the unique demands of metropolitan systems with leading edge optical networking. MetroCor fiber¿s dispersion-optimized design allows operation of multiple channels in 2.5 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s networks where directly modulated lasers are employed or all-optical networking is an expected need.
There are four spools of Corning MetroCor fiber in total, 25.25km per spool in the box. The box is standard 19" rack mounted packaging. FC/PC input and output interface at front panel for a 101.0km fiber link in length. The Box is in dimension of 17"(W) x10.5"(H) x15"(17") (L)
